A vulnerability has been found in EnergyScripts Simple Download 1.0 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the file download.php. The manipulation of the argument file with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Directory traversal vulnerability in download.php in EnergyScripts (ES) Simple Download 1.0 allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the file parameter.
The weakness was published 09/09/2010 by Kazza (Website). The advisory is shared for download at xforce.iss.net. This vulnerability was named CVE-2010-3456. The exploitation appears to be easy.
