A vulnerability was found in Squid Proxy up to 3.0 (Firewall Software). It has been rated as problematic. This issue affects an unknown code block of the file String.cci. The string-comparison functions in String.cci in Squid 3.x before 3.1.8 and 3.2.x before 3.2.0.2 allow remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and daemon crash) via a crafted request.
The weakness was presented 09/20/2010 by Phil Oester as Bug 630444 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared at bugzilla.redhat.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2010-3072. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.
