A vulnerability was found in Check Point EndPoint Connect up to R73 and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown code in the library libraries. Untrusted search path vulnerability in TrGUI.exe in the Endpoint Connect (aka EPC) GUI in Check Point Endpoint Security R73.x and E80.x on the VPN blade platform, Endpoint Security VPN R75, Endpoint Connect R73.x, and Remote Access Clients E75.x allows local users to gain privileges via a Trojan horse DLL in the current working directory.
The weakness was presented 06/10/2012 by Moshe Zioni with Comsec Global Consulting as EndPointConnect (EPC) DLL hijacking vulnerability as confirmed knowledge base article (Website). The advisory is shared at supportcenter.checkpoint.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-2753 since 05/15/2012. The attack may be initiated remotely. A simple authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1574 for this issue.
