A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Microsoft Windows XP SP3 (Operating System). This issue affects an unknown part of the file win32k.sys. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a race condition vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-362. The weakness was shared 06/12/2012 by Tarjei Mandt (j00ru) with Microsoft as MS12-041 as confirmed bulletin (Microsoft Technet). It is possible to read the advisory at technet.microsoft.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-1868 since 03/22/2012. Attacking locally is a requirement. A simple authentication is necessary for exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
