A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in RealNetworks RealPlayer up to 11.1 (Multimedia Player Software). This issue affects the function getqsval of the file Upsell.htm of the component ActiveX Control. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a input validation vulnerability. The (1) Upsell.htm, (2) Main.html, and (3) Custsupport.html components in RealNetworks RealPlayer 11.0 through 11.1, RealPlayer SP 1.0 through 1.1.5, and RealPlayer Enterprise 2.1.2 and 2.1.3 allow remote attackers to inject code into the RealOneActiveXObject process, and consequently bypass intended Local Machine Zone restrictions and load arbitrary ActiveX controls, via unspecified vectors.
The weakness was shared 12/10/2010 with TippingPoint's Zero Day Initiative (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at zerodayinitiative.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2010-4388 since 12/02/2010. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
