A vulnerability was found in NullSoft WinAmp 5.63 (Multimedia Player Software). It has been declared as very critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the component bmp.w5s. Multiple heap-based buffer overflows in bmp.w5s in Winamp before 5.63 build 3235 allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via the (1) strf chunk in BI_RGB or (2) UYVY video data in an AVI file, or (3) decompressed TechSmith Screen Capture Codec (TSCC) data in an AVI file.

The weakness was presented 06/20/2012 by Hossein Lotfi (S0lute) with Secunia as not defined changelog entry (Website). The advisory is available at forums.winamp.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-4045 since 07/22/2012. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
