A vulnerability was found in Git up to 1.4.2.2 (Versioning Software) and classified as problematic. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing of the file index.php. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in Gitweb 1.7.3.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the (1) f and (2) fp parameters.

The weakness was released 12/15/2010 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at vupen.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2010-3906 since 10/12/2010. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.
