A vulnerability was found in VMware ESXi 4.1 (Virtualization Software) and classified as very critical. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file /etc/sfcb/sfcb.cfg of the component Update Installer. The Update Installer in VMware ESXi 4.1, when a modified sfcb.cfg is present, does not properly configure the SFCB authentication mode, which allows remote attackers to obtain access via an arbitrary username and password.
The weakness was released 12/22/2010 with Vmware as VMSA-2010-0020 (Website). The advisory is shared at vupen.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2010-4573 since 12/21/2010.
