A vulnerability was found in Freedesktop Telepathy Gabble up to 0.9. It has been rated as critical. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file jingle-factory.c. jingle-factory.c in Telepathy Gabble 0.11 before 0.11.7, 0.10 before 0.10.5, and 0.8 before 0.8.15 allows remote attackers to sniff audio and video calls via a crafted google:jingleinfo stanza that specifies an alternate server for streamed media.
The weakness was published 02/18/2011 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at bugs.freedesktop.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-1000 since 02/14/2011. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 165189 (SUSE Security Update for Multiple Packages (SUSE-SR:2011:007)).
Upgrading to version 0.10 eliminates this vulnerability.
