A vulnerability was found in Beasts vsftpd up to 0.0.13 (File Transfer Software). It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is the function vsf_filename_passes_filter of the file ls.c. The vsf_filename_passes_filter function in ls.c in vsftpd before 2.3.3 allows remote authenticated users to cause a denial of service (CPU consumption and process slot exhaustion) via crafted glob expressions in STAT commands in multiple FTP sessions, a different vulnerability than CVE-2010-2632.
The weakness was published 03/02/2011 by Maksymilian Arciemowicz as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is available at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2011-0762 since 02/03/2011. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. A simple authentication is needed for exploitation.
