Details
A vulnerability classified as problematic has been found in FocalMedia.Net Quick Polls up to 1.0.0 (Survey Software). This affects an unknown code of the file index.php. The manipulation of the argument p with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, and availability. The summary by CVE is:
Multiple directory traversal vulnerabilities in FocalMedia.Net Quick Polls before 1.0.2 allow remote attackers to (1) read arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the p parameter in a preview action to index.php, or (2) delete arbitrary files via a .. (dot dot) in the p parameter in a delete action to index.php.
The weakness was released 03/06/2011 (Website). The advisory is shared at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2011-1099 since 02/24/2011. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details and a public exploit are known.
