A vulnerability has been found in GNOME gdm and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown functionality of the component Gnome Display Manager. GNOME Display Manager (gdm) 2.x before 2.32.1 allows local users to change the ownership of arbitrary files via a symlink attack on a (1) dmrc or (2) face icon file under /var/cache/gdm/.
The weakness was shared 03/31/2011 by Sebastian Krahmer as Bug 688323 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is available at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2011-0727. Local access is required to approach this attack. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
