A vulnerability has been found in Red Hat spice-xpi 2.2/2.3/2.4 and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality. The SPICE Firefox plug-in (spice-xpi) 2.4, 2.3, 2.2, and possibly other versions allows local users to overwrite arbitrary files via a symlink attack on the usbrdrctl log file, which has a predictable name.
The weakness was released 04/18/2011 as Bug 639869 as confirmed bug report (Bugzilla). The advisory is shared for download at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2011-0012 since 12/07/2010. The attack needs to be approached locally. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation.
