A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, was found in jabber jabberd2 up to 2.2.12. This affects an unknown code. jabberd2 before 2.2.14 does not properly detect recursion during entity expansion, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory and CPU consumption) via a crafted XML document containing a large number of nested entity references, a similar issue to CVE-2003-1564.
The weakness was disclosed 06/20/2011 by Jan Lieskovsky as Bug 700390 as not defined bug report (Bugzilla). It is possible to read the advisory at bugzilla.redhat.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2011-1755. The exploitability is told to be easy. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.

Upgrading to version 2.2.13 eliminates this vulnerability.
