Use-after-free vulnerability in win32k.sys in the kernel-mode drivers in Microsoft Windows XP SP2 and SP3, Windows Server 2003 SP2, Windows Vista SP1 and SP2, Windows Server 2008 Gold, SP2, R2, and R2 SP1, and Windows 7 Gold and SP1 allows local users to gain privileges via a crafted application that leverages incorrect driver object management, a different vulnerability than other CVEs listed in MS11-054, aka "Win32k Use After Free Vulnerability."
The weakness was disclosed 07/13/2011 by Tarjei Mandt with Norman (Website). The advisory is shared at us-cert.gov. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-1876 since 05/04/2011. The exploitation is known to be easy. An attack has to be approached locally. Required for exploitation is a simple authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. The price for an exploit might be around USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 11/14/2021).
