A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, has been found in Apple Safari up to 5.0.5 (Web Browser). This issue affects an unknown part. WebKit, as used in Apple Safari before 5.0.6, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (memory corruption and application crash) via a crafted web site, a different vulnerability than other WebKit CVEs listed in APPLE-SA-2011-07-20-1.
The weakness was released 07/21/2011 by Nikita Tarakanov (Inferno) with Google Chrome Security Team (Website). The advisory is shared at lists.apple.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-0222 since 12/23/2010. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. A public exploit has been developed by Nikita Tarakanov and been published 4 days after the advisory. The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
