A vulnerability classified as critical was found in VideoLAN VLC Media Player up to 1.1.10 (Multimedia Player Software). This vulnerability affects the function DemuxAudioSipr of the file real.c. Heap-based buffer overflow in the DemuxAudioSipr function in real.c in the RealMedia demuxer in VideoLAN VLC media player 1.1.x before 1.1.11 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (application crash) or possibly execute arbitrary code via a crafted Real Media file.
The weakness was released 07/26/2011 by Hossein Lotfi (Website). The advisory is shared for download at videolan.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2011-2587. The attack can be initiated remotely.
