A vulnerability has been found in Symantec Endpoint Protection up to 11.0.6100 (Anti-Malware Software) and classified as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in the Web Interface in the Endpoint Protection Manager in Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) 11.0.600x through 11.0.6300 allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via (1) the token parameter to portal/Help.jsp or (2) the URI in a console/apps/sepm request.

The weakness was presented 08/15/2011 by Sow Ching Shiong (Cons0ul) (Website). The advisory is shared for download at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2011-0550 since 01/20/2011. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1059.007.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 57767 (Symantec Endpoint Protection Manager TestConnection.jsp 'Msg' Parameter XSS (SYM11-009 & SYM12-001)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
