Stack-based buffer overflow in an ActiveX control in KVWebSvr.dll in WellinTech KingView 6.52 and 6.53 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via a long second argument to the ValidateUser method.
The weakness was released 08/16/2011 by Carlos Mario Penagos Hollmann (Website). The advisory is shared at us-cert.gov. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-3142 since 08/16/2011. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known.
