A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in GTK GTK+ up to 2.8.8. This affects some unknown functionality in the library Wintab32.dll. Untrusted search path vulnerability in gdk/win32/gdkinput-win32.c in GTK+ before 2.21.8 allows local users to gain privileges via a Trojan horse Wintab32.dll file in the current working directory.
The weakness was released 09/06/2011 with LAC Co., Ltd as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). It is possible to read the advisory at git.gnome.org. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2010-4831 since 09/01/2011. Attacking locally is a requirement. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1574 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
