A vulnerability has been found in Zoho ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus up to 8012 and classified as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function encryptPassword of the component Encryption. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cryptographic issue vulnerability. The encryptPassword function in Login.js in ManageEngine ServiceDesk Plus (SDP) 8012 and earlier uses a Caesar cipher for encryption of passwords in cookies, which makes it easier for remote attackers to obtain sensitive information by sniffing the network.
The weakness was disclosed 09/20/2011 by Core Security with CORE Security Technologies as confirmed posting (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2011-1509 since 03/23/2011. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1600 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
