The weakness was released 07/25/2012 by Aaron Sigel (Slawomir Blazek) with vtty.com as HT5400 as confirmed knowledge base article (Apple Security Announce). It is possible to read the advisory at support.apple.com. The public release was coordinated with Apple. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2012-0679 since 01/12/2012. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. Technical details are unknown but a private exploit is available. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1068 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
