Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in activesupport/lib/active_support/core_ext/string/output_safety.rb in Ruby on Rails before 3.0.17, 3.1.x before 3.1.8, and 3.2.x before 3.2.8 might allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via vectors involving a (quote) character.

The weakness was shared 08/09/2012 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at groups.google.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2012-3464 since 06/14/2012. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
