A vulnerability classified as problematic was found in Mahara up to 1.2.5 (Content Management System). This vulnerability affects the function get_dataroot_image_path in the library lib/file.php. The get_dataroot_image_path function in lib/file.php in Mahara before 1.4.1 does not properly validate uploaded image files, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (memory consumption) via a (1) large or (2) invalid image.
The weakness was released 11/14/2011 (Website). The advisory is available at launchpad.net. This vulnerability was named CVE-2011-2772 since 07/19/2011. The exploitation appears to be easy.
