A vulnerability classified as critical has been found in Zabbix 1.8.3/1.8.4 (Network Management Software). Affected is an unknown part of the file popup.php. The manipulation of the argument only_hostid with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. SQL injection vulnerability in popup.php in Zabbix 1.8.3 and 1.8.4, and possibly other versions before 1.8.9, allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the only_hostid parameter.
The weakness was published 12/02/2011 by Marcio Almeida (Website). The advisory is shared for download at support.zabbix.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2011-4674 since 12/02/2011. By approaching the search of inurl:popup.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 57077 (Fedora 15 : zabbix-1.8.9-1.fc15 (2011-16712)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Fedora Local Security Checks.
Upgrading to version 1.8.4 eliminates this vulnerability.
