A vulnerability, which was classified as problematic, has been found in Dolibarr up to 3.1.0 (Enterprise Resource Planning Software). This issue affects some unknown processing of the file index.php. The manipulation of the argument optioncss with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-79. The product does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes user-controllable input before it is placed in output that is used as a web page that is served to other users. Impacted is integrity. Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in Dolibarr 3.1.0 RC and probably earlier allow remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the PATH_INFO to (1) index.php, (2) admin/boxes.php, (3) comm/clients.php, (4) commande/index.php; and the optioncss parameter to (5) admin/ihm.php and (6) user/home.php.
The weakness was released 12/13/2011 by High-Tech Bridge SA with High-Tech Bridge SA (Website). The advisory is shared at github.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-4814 since 12/13/2011. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.
The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept. By approaching the search of inurl:index.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 58748 (Dolibarr Multiple Script URI XSS), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CGI abuses : XSS. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 12623 (Dolibarr Multiple Cross-Site Scripting Vulnerabilities).
There is no information about possible countermeasures known. It may be suggested to replace the affected object with an alternative product.
