A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, has been found in NullSoft WinAmp up to 5.580 (Multimedia Player Software). Affected by this issue is an unknown part in the library in_mod.dll. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. Heap-based buffer overflow in the in_mod.dll plugin in Winamp before 5.623 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted song message data in an Impulse Tracker (IT) file. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from third party information.
The weakness was disclosed 12/16/2011 by Dmitriy Pletnev with Secunia Research (Website). The advisory is available at oval.mitre.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2011-4857 since 12/16/2011.
