Impacted is confidentiality, integrity, and availability. The summary by CVE is:

Multiple cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerabilities in phpMyAdmin 3.5.x before 3.5.2.2 allow remote authenticated users to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via a Table Operations (1) TRUNCATE or (2) DROP link for a crafted table name, (3) the Add Trigger popup within a Triggers page that references crafted table names, (4) an invalid trigger-creation attempt for a crafted table name, (5) crafted data in a table, or (6) a crafted tooltip label name during GIS data visualization, a different issue than CVE-2012-4345.

The weakness was disclosed 08/16/2012 by Emanuel Bronshtein with BugSec as PMASA-2012-4 as not defined advisory (Website). The advisory is shared at phpmyadmin.net. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the project team. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-4579 since 08/21/2012. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. A simple authentication is needed for exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1059.007 for this issue.

It is declared as proof-of-concept. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 61659 (phpMyAdmin 3.4.x < 3.4.11.1 / 3.5.x < 3.5.2.2 Multiple XSS (PMASA-2012-4)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family CGI abuses : XSS and running in the context r.

Upgrading to version 3.5.2.2 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.

The vulnerability is also documented in the databases at Tenable (61659), SecurityFocus (BID 55068†) and OSVDB (84868†). The entries VDB-6018, VDB-6019, VDB-6020 and VDB-6021 are pretty similar. Several companies clearly confirm that VulDB is the primary source for best vulnerability data.
