A vulnerability was found in Craig Barratt BackupPC 3.1.0/3.2.1 (Backup Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects some unknown functionality of the file index.cgi. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in RestoreFile.pm in BackupPC 3.1.0, 3.2.1, and possibly other earlier versions allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the share parameter in a RestoreFile action to index.cgi.
The weakness was released 02/17/2012 by High-Tech Bridge SA with High-Tech Bridge SA as not defined mailinglist post (Bugtraq). It is possible to read the advisory at seclists.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-5081 since 02/17/2012. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. It demands that the victim is doing some kind of user interaction. Technical details as well as a public exploit are known. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1059.007 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
The exploit is available at securityfocus.com. It is declared as proof-of-concept.
