A vulnerability was found in Dell Powervault Ml6020. It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the file saveRestore.htm. The manipulation of the argument fileName with an unknown input leads to a cross-site request forgery vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-352. The web application does not, or can not, sufficiently verify whether a well-formed, valid, consistent request was intentionally provided by the user who submitted the request. Cross-site request forgery (CSRF) vulnerability in saveRestore.htm on the Quantum Scalar i500 tape library with firmware before i7.0.3 (604G.GS00100), also distributed as the Dell ML6000 tape library with firmware before A20-00 (590G.GS00100), allows remote attackers to hijack the authentication of users for requests that execute Linux commands via the fileName parameter, related to a "command-injection vulnerability."
The weakness was shared 03/22/2012 by CIRT as confirmed advisory (CERT.org). The advisory is available at kb.cert.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-1843 since 03/21/2012. The attack can be initiated remotely. Required for exploitation is a single authentication. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit.
It is declared as highly functional. By approaching the search of inurl:saveRestore.htm it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking.
Upgrading to version 14u eliminates this vulnerability.
