A vulnerability was found in ABB QuickTeach (unknown version) and classified as critical. This issue affects an unknown code block of the component ActiveX Control. Multiple stack-based buffer overflows in (1) COM and (2) ActiveX controls in ABB WebWare Server, WebWare SDK, Interlink Module, S4 OPC Server, QuickTeach, RobotStudio S4, and RobotStudio Lite allow remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via crafted input data.
The weakness was released 04/18/2012 by Billy Rios (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at us-cert.gov. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-1801 since 03/21/2012. The exploitation is known to be easy. Access to the local network is required for this attack. The requirement for exploitation is a simple authentication.
