Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the outputPage function in includes/SkinTemplate.php in MediaWiki before 1.17.5, 1.18.x before 1.18.4, and 1.19.x before 1.19.1 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via the uselang parameter to index.php/Main_page.

The weakness was released 06/29/2012 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at gerrit.wikimedia.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-2698 since 05/14/2012. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim.
