The @CopyFrom operation in the POST servlet in the org.apache.sling.servlets.post bundle before 2.1.2 in Apache Sling does not prevent attempts to copy an ancestor node to a descendant node, which allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (infinite loop) via a crafted HTTP request.
The weakness was shared 07/09/2012 with Adobe (Website). The advisory is shared at issues.apache.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-2138 since 04/04/2012. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
