The command-line cron implementation in Moodle 2.0.x before 2.0.6 and 2.1.x before 2.1.3 does not properly interact with IP blocking, which might allow remote attackers to bypass intended IP address restrictions by leveraging a configuration in which IP blocking was disabled to restore cron functionality.

The weakness was published 07/20/2012 as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). It is possible to read the advisory at git.moodle.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2011-4592 since 11/29/2011. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
