The weakness was disclosed 09/12/2012 by Christian Holler (miaubiz) with Google as APPLE-SA-2012-09-12-1 as confirmed posting (Website). The advisory is available at lists.apple.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability was named CVE-2011-3053 since 08/09/2011. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
