A vulnerability was found in Dell Sonicwall Scrutinizer With Flow Analytics Module up to 8.6.1 (Firewall Software). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown code of the component Web Console. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. d4d/uploader.php in the web console in Plixer Scrutinizer (aka Dell SonicWALL Scrutinizer) before 9.5.0 allows remote attackers to create or overwrite arbitrary files in %PROGRAMFILES%\Scrutinizer\snmp\mibs\ via a multipart/form-data POST request.
The weakness was published 07/31/2012 by Jonathan Claudius with Trustwave SpiderLabs (Website). The advisory is available at trustwave.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-2627 since 05/11/2012. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available. This vulnerability is assigned to T1059.007 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.
