A vulnerability was found in libpng up to 1.5.5 (Image Processing Software). It has been classified as problematic. Affected is the function png_push_read_zTXt of the file pngpread.c. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a memory corruption vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-119. The png_push_read_zTXt function in pngpread.c in libpng 1.0.x before 1.0.58, 1.2.x before 1.2.48, 1.4.x before 1.4.10, and 1.5.x before 1.5.10 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (out-of-bounds read) via a large avail_in field value in a PNG image.
The weakness was shared 08/13/2012 (oss-sec). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2012-3425 since 06/14/2012.
