samples/powerbtn/powerbtn.sh in acpid (aka acpid2) 2.0.16 and earlier uses the pidof program incorrectly, which allows local users to gain privileges by running a program with the name kded4 and a DBUS_SESSION_BUS_ADDRESS environment variable containing commands.
The weakness was presented 08/29/2012 by otr (Website). The advisory is available at bugs.launchpad.net. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2011-2777 since 07/19/2011. Local access is required to approach this attack. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. Technical details are unknown but a public exploit is available.
