A vulnerability has been found in Apple iTunes 10.6.3 (Multimedia Player Software) and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects some unknown functionality of the component WebKit. The weakness was disclosed 09/12/2012 by Martin Barbella with Google Chrome Security Team as APPLE-SA-2012-09-12-1 as not defined posting (Website). The advisory is shared for download at lists.apple.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-3645 since 06/19/2012. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The flaw has been found by using the open-source tool AddressSanitizer.

Upgrading to version 10.7 eliminates this vulnerability. The upgrade is hosted for download at apple.com. The problem might be mitigated by replacing the product with Spotify as an alternative.
