A vulnerability was found in LimeSurvey up to 1.71 (Survey Software) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing. The manipulation of the argument id with an unknown input leads to a sql injection vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-89. The product constructs all or part of an SQL command using externally-influenced input from an upstream component, but it does not neutralize or incorrectly neutralizes special elements that could modify the intended SQL command when it is sent to a downstream component. SQL injection vulnerability in admin/admin.php in LimeSurvey before 1.91+ Build 120224 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary SQL commands via the id parameter in a browse action. NOTE: some of these details are obtained from third party information.
The weakness was presented 09/19/2012 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at freecode.com. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2012-4994 since 09/19/2012. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. Required for exploitation is a simple authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1505.
Upgrading to version 1.72 eliminates this vulnerability.
