dracut.sh in dracut, as used in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6, Fedora 16 and 17, and possibly other products, creates initramfs images with world-readable permissions, which might allow local users to obtain sensitive information.
The weakness was published 10/09/2012 as confirmed git commit (GIT Repository). The advisory is shared for download at git.kernel.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2012-4453 since 08/21/2012. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack needs to be approached locally. No form of authentication is required for exploitation.
