Lynx does not verify that the server s certificate is signed by a trusted certification authority, which allows man-in-the-middle attackers to spoof SSL servers via a crafted certificate, related to improper use of a certain GnuTLS function.
The weakness was presented 11/04/2012 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at mandriva.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2012-5821 since 11/04/2012. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. There are known technical details, but no exploit is available.
