A vulnerability was found in Drupal up to 7.15 (Content Management System). It has been rated as problematic. Affected by this issue is an unknown code block of the component OpenID Module. The OpenID module in Drupal 7.x before 7.16 allows remote OpenID servers to read arbitrary files via a crafted DOCTYPE declaration in an XRDS file.

The weakness was published 11/11/2012 (Website). The advisory is shared for download at drupalcode.org. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2012-4554 since 08/21/2012. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. No form of authentication is required for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.

It is declared as highly functional. The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 62678 (Drupal 7.x < 7.16 Multiple Vulnerabilities), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment.
