A vulnerability was found in Red Hat libvirt up to 0.0.4 (Virtualization Software). It has been declared as problematic. Affected by this vulnerability is the function virNetServerProgramDispatchCall. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. The virNetServerProgramDispatchCall function in libvirt before 0.10.2 allows remote attackers to cause a denial of service (NULL pointer dereference and segmentation fault) via an RPC call with (1) an event as the RPC number or (2) an RPC number whose value is in a "gap" in the RPC dispatch table.
The weakness was shared 11/19/2012 by Petr Matousek (Website). The advisory is shared at redhat.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2012-4423 since 08/21/2012.
