IBM Security AppScan Enterprise before 8.6.0.2 and Rational Policy Tester before 8.5.0.3 do not validate X.509 certificates during scanning, which allows man-in-the-middle attackers to spoof SSL servers via an arbitrary certificate.
The weakness was disclosed 12/28/2012 (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at www-01.ibm.com. This vulnerability is uniquely identified as CVE-2012-0738 since 01/17/2012. It is possible to initiate the attack remotely. No form of authentication is needed for exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not publicly available.
Upgrading to version 8.5.0.0 eliminates this vulnerability.
