A vulnerability was found in Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager up to 2.0 (Virtualization Software). It has been rated as critical. The vds_installer in Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization Manager (RHEV-M) before 3.1, when adding a host, uses the -k curl parameter when downloading deployUtil.py and vds_bootstrap.py, which prevents SSL certificates from being validated and allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary Python code via a man-in-the-middle attack.
The weakness was presented 01/04/2013 with Red Hat (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at rhn.redhat.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2012-0861 since 01/19/2012. The exploitation is known to be difficult. The attack can only be done within the local network. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit. The attack technique deployed by this issue is T1600 according to MITRE ATT&CK.
