The Runtime Toolkit in CODESYS Runtime System 2.3.x and 2.4.x does not require authentication, which allows remote attackers to (1) execute commands via the command-line interface in the TCP listener service or (2) transfer files via requests to the TCP listener service.

The weakness was disclosed 01/21/2013 (Website). The advisory is available at us-cert.gov. This vulnerability was named CVE-2012-6068 since 12/05/2012. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
