The weakness was disclosed 02/13/2013 as MS13-009 as confirmed bulletin (Technet). The advisory is available at technet.microsoft.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2013-0029. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.

The vulnerability scanner Nessus provides a plugin with the ID 64570 (MS13-009: Security Update for Internet Explorer (2792100)), which helps to determine the existence of the flaw in a target environment. It is assigned to the family Windows : Microsoft Bulletins. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 100136 (Microsoft Internet Explorer Remote Code Execution Vulnerability (MS13-009)).
