Apple Safari before 6.0 does not properly handle the autocomplete attribute of a password input element, which allows remote attackers to bypass authentication by leveraging an unattended workstation.

The weakness was released 09/19/2012 by Dan Poltawski with Moodle as APPLE-SA-2012-09-19-1 as not defined posting (Website). The advisory is available at prod.lists.apple.com. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2012-0680 since 01/12/2012. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $5k-$25k at the moment (estimation calculated on 04/13/2021).
