A vulnerability has been found in Advantech Advantech Studio up to 6.1 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects the function CreateFileW of the file NTWebServer.exe. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Absolute path traversal vulnerability in NTWebServer.exe in Indusoft Studio 7.0 and earlier and Advantech Studio 7.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via a full pathname in an argument to the sub_401A90 CreateFileW function.
